Share the Dignity

August is nearly done but there is still time to make a contribution. This Saturday, the Dignity Drive received an incredibly generous donation from a patron who has been collecting on our behalf. She and her friends dropped off green shopping bags brimming with all manner of pads and tampons which will soon be shared with women in need. If you would like to help women who can’t take the necessities for granted, do so now, before the end of the month.

During August, The Women’s Library in Newtown is making it easy for everyone to help women who are homeless. We have partnered with Share The Dignity and, for the first time, the library is an official collection point for this fantastic cause.

You can be part of this by picking up a couple of extra packets of tampons or pads next time you’re shopping and then dropping them off at The Women’s Library so that they can be passed on to women on the streets who need our help.

The Women’s Library is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and on the weekends. Please call in during opening hours and leave our donation in the Share The Dignity box on the counter. If you can’t make it during opening hours, leave your contribution in the (Book) Returns box near the front door. Anything you can do to help this cause will be greatly appreciated.

Share the Dignity is a charity started by Queensland-based Rochelle Courtenay. It has two drives for sanitary items each year and also supplies vending machines that dispense free period packs. You can find out more about these activities on its website.
